In August 2009, I used Grant England and his team at GE Construction for a project in Merivale, Christchurch, completely stripping and renovating a rental property. I was referred to Grant by a trusted friend who is an electrician and has worked extensively with Grant for some time. I live in Auckland, and wasn't able to be in Christchurch for much of the time during the planning stages or the actual renovation, so needed someone who could co-ordinate the work for me, including working with the architect, arranging council consent and inspections, purchasing materials and organising sub-contractors. Because the property is located in a premium location, I wanted the work done to a high standard so as to attract quality tenants and rental return.
 
Throughout the project, Grant was a pleasure to work with and communication between us, despite minimal face to face meetings, was excellent. During the planning stages, Grant made good, practical suggestions for the property, and during the work, stuck to the agreed boundaries. The project went smoothly and was completed on time and close to the original budget set. I was very pleased with the result and the superb tenant we rented the property to loves it.
 
A couple of very minor issues (a leaking shower rose and a loose draught strip on the back door) arose once the tenant moved in, and Grant was very obliging in returning to the property promptly to rectify them without extra charge.
